ARZENI VETIVER

Experience vetiver through a modern lens.

The fragrance opens under the Mediterranean sun. We source our bergamot exclusively from the narrow coastal belt of Reggio Calabria, where the fruit is carefully hand-harvested between November and March to capture its sharpest green clarity. Alongside it, Sicilian lemon, shaped by the heavy warmth of Syracuse, offers a radiant, sunlit edge, layered against the bitter pith of grapefruit. This bright, citrus-forward introduction is elevated by a rush of spice: fresh Madagascar ginger and the vibrating snap of Sichuan pepper.

As the initial brightness settles, the fragrance transitions into a clean, aromatic core. Brisk geranium and clary sage add an herbaceous sophistication, softened just slightly by the faint, nectar-like warmth of honeysuckle. It is an intentional, open-air prelude to the dark earth that follows.

At the foundation lies the undisputed centerpiece: Haitian Vetiver. Cultivated primarily in the island's southern soils, the roots are left undisturbed in the earth for up to eighteen months. Only then are they unearthed and distilled, yielding a material of unparalleled depth and a dry, subtly smoky, and earthy character.

To frame these roots, we built a formidable woody architecture. We turn to the rugged, arid scrublands of the American Southwest for our cedar, where we selectively gather wild-grown wood and distill its heartwood. This yields a dry, structural rigidity that allows the vetiver to breathe. The earthiness is pulled deeper still by the rich, rooty facets of cypriol, traditional oakmoss, and dark patchouli. To finish, we incorporate the essence of pine needles, harvested from deep, wild forests to capture the sun-baked, honeyed warmth of a dry forest floor. A whisper of clean musk ensures the complexity remains intimately tethered to the skin.
